5 KILLER Outdoor Workouts That Burn FAT And Prevents Boredom

Hitting the gym can be so rewarding – not only for your mind – but for your body as well.

Although many people spend hours at the gym, not everyone has the time – or the desire – to be there for more than a half hour.

So, they pick the one exercise they can do in a short amount of time: cardio.

Now, cardio is great for altering your blood pressure, cholesterol, stress, and about a hundred other things.

However, it can get pretty boring…

And there is only so much news you can watch (or stomach for that matter)!

So what can you to that break the boredom from your cardio routine?

Take it outside and enjoy the summer time heat and weather!

Here are FIVE great outdoor activities that not only boost your cardiovascular fitness, but take the boredom and monotony out of your current cardio plan:



1. Volleyball


There is nothing more taxing than a good game of volleyball.

Not only will it get your heart rate moving, it could also strengthen and tone those hard to hit areas.

Volleyball taxes your core, shoulders, and arms, plus, puts a beating on other areas of your body.

Want to make volleyball harder?  Try playing on the beach in the sand. 

The unstable surface of the sand will really tax your ankles, calves, and tone your quads and glutes.

2. Plant a Garden


Have you ever worked in a garden?  If so, then you know just how hard your body works tilling and maintaining your precious garden!

Gardening is a great activity for toning the legs, butt, thighs, and arms due to the constant up and down motion, pulling and bending, and moving this way and that.

Plus, this one activity can be done by young children, young adults, and older adults!

There’s nothing like a great workout while you’re planting healthy fruits or vegetables for your family to enjoy!

3. Ultimate Frisbee

Who would have thought that tossing around a Frisbee could help you stay in shape?

If you have never played ultimate Frisbee, then you are missing out on one of the best cardio workouts ever!

Why?

The constant movement, running down the field, catching, throwing, and dodging other competitors could make for a grueling workout.

Plus, it could burn a LOT of calories in a short period of time!

But be warned: Start off easy.  Once you are in better shape than you may add in varying intensities and movements to maximize your calorie burn.

4. Hiking

Hiking rugged terrain, mountains, or even little hills is a great way to exercise and get fit at the same time.

Not only do you expend calories, but due to the rugged terrain, you put stress on your legs, butt, back, and core.

This helps you tone your body, while enjoying nature for an hour or two!

5. Stand-Up Paddle Boarding

The newest craze in the fitness world is stand-up paddle boarding.

Essentially you are standing on a board, while paddling around nooks and crannies near lakes and beaches by your home.

It may look tough – and it is at first – but the more you do it, the stronger your arms, shoulders, and core becomes.

You could spend hours exploring lakes and beaches while giving yourself an awesome total body workout.

Get Outside and Move Your Body

Although hitting the gym is a great way to unwind from a long day at the office, it can also be very boring as the scenery may not change much.

So what can you do?

Take your exercise outside!

Doing any number of activities – from walking to running – and the FIVE activities from above could put your cardio program on overdrive.
